Genuine Dermaroller

Genuine Dermaroller™ Therapy provides advanced skin micro-surgical needling. This procedure stimulates the skin to regenerate and repair itself naturally and safely, creating smoother, brighter, healthier, younger-looking skin.
The quest for the perfect anti-ageing treatments includes muscle relaxants, dermal fillers, chemical peels, microdermabrasion, ablative and non-ablative lasers or IPL.
However, collagen induction therapy by micro-needles has recently resurged in popularity after introduction of medical roller devices by various companies in Europe, North America and the Far East.
What Is Genuine Dermaroller™?Genuine Dermaroller™ is a medical device utilised by medically qualified practitioners to produce thousands of micro-channels in the skin at a specific controlled depth of penetration. It is common practice for non medical person sto offer microneedling treatment, however the depth of the micro-channels will be significantly reduced so the results are less satisfactory and more treatments are required. We are aiming for each column to penetrate precisely into the dermis of the skin to stimulate collagen synthesis without destroying the skin's epidermal barrier. The column will close rapidly enabling the skin to recover quickly; but set into motion a cascade of changes responsible for inducing growth of new collagen fibres which result in skin plumping and skin tightening. Uses:
Not suitable for patients with:
Your ExperienceTopical anaesthetic is applied to numb the skin making the procedure comfortable; it will normally take up to 30 minutes for the topical anaesthetic to work and 20 - 30 minutes for the procedure. Sometimes for the more sensitive areas ( around the eyes and lip area)local anaesthetic infiltration may be considered. Side EffectsImmediately after procedure skin looks similar to moderate sunburn and it may feel warm and tighter than usual. This will start to gradually subside and will normally recover within the next 3 days. Bruising may also develop which will resolve within the next three days. Post-procedureUse tepid water to cleanse the face for the following 48 hours and dry gently, always make sure your hands are clean when touching the treated area. Specialist skincare will be supplied for you to use after the procedure. The ResultAfter the procedure your body will start to naturally regenerate and repair the skin, working below the surface in the dermis. This takes time as new collagen and elastin is formed, new skin cells are generated and blood supply is enhanced. It can take up to 6 weeks before visible signs of regeneration and repair are seen and the process will continue over the following months, providing you with a gradual and long lasting enhancement. The FutureFor rejuvenation a one off procedure combined with prescription only skincare can provide a satisfactory result due to the depth of the micro channels applied. However, in the treatment of surgical, trauma, acne scars or stretch marks it may be necessary to extend the treatment to 3-5 sessions at a minimum of 6 weeks interval. One skin cycle should be allowed between treatments. The reassessment will take place six months post procedural. |
Stretch Marks - after 2 sessions
Ageing & Sun Damage after 1session
Acne scarring - after 2 sessions

Needling depths matter!Deeper needles penetration (1.5-3 mm) into the dermis produces better collagen and elastin production. The breaking of blood vessels (as pictured bellow) is also key to starting the skin rejuvenation process. If the needle only pokes the topmost skin layer and does not reach the dermis, there may be some improvements but no dramatic results will be achieved and multiple tratments are required!

PS - I have been often asked how Collagen induction therapy by medical micro-needling can be compared with laser therapy.
These are 2 different treatments with the same aim: collagen stimulation.
The dermaroller therapy is an attractive option which provides less down-time and can be repeated as necessary. The major attraction and advantage of this procedure is lack of complications especially pigmentary changes. It is also considerably cheaper than fractional laser resurfacing procedures which also require repeat sessions. Another advantage is preservation of protective epidermal layer of skin, quicker recovery and pain and heat sensation is less.
